How to navigate this blog

 Since this was started as a "blog" it reads in reverse order, with the most recent entry being the first one shown. In order to view it in the correct order, one needs to navigate back using the "Blog Archive" function on the left  side of the page. Click the "2017 (276)" then "March (92)" and a dropdown menu will start at Jan 1 1928. From there you can read the blog in chronological order by clicking on each day. When you reach the end of the March entries, just move on to April and a new dropdown menu will show.

   The diary begins with the girls spending the holidays at friends in Torquay, then returning to school. It's a glimpse into school life until spring when their dad came out from Shanghai to join them. He came by train across Russia to Berlin, then Rotterdam and by boat to London. All told it was a trip of about ten days. 

   My aunt was 15 when she wrote the Cambridge Exams that July. My mother was older but she was not as academically inclined so she was done with school earlier. With schooling behind them and their father with them again, they set off to see the sights around Europe. They had about two months before boarding their ship in September for the six week voyage home. 

  I've added a few photos that prior to finding the old diary, I hadn't known where or when they were taken.
