This blog contains the 1928 Diary of my mother, Iris Hunter and her sister Nora Hunter. At the time of it's writing, they were attending Bournemouth High School, a boarding school for girls in Bournemouth, England. It was their final year after which they would be returning to their home in Shanghai, China. Iris turned 17 in Feb of that year and her sister would be 16 in July. I've transcribed it as written along with any photos that were pasted into the diary. I've also added in a few photos

Nora
went to the dentist this morning and I went shopping to buy cakes for this
afternoon's tea party. Straight after tiffin I went to fetch six girls from school
up to tea. I met Mrs. Stead on the tram and talked with her. I arrived home
with the girls at about 3 PM and we all talked in the drawing room while I
played the gramophone. They all enjoyed their tea I think as the cakes went
quick enough. After tea we all played clock golf and Amoret Allen was the
winner so daddy gave her a box of chocolates as a prize I took them back to
school.

We
saw "The Best People" tonight and it was very good.
Most
laughable show for a long time.
I
went to fetch Nora for the week-end as usual.
