Nora Eileen Hunter

Ten years ago today, Oct 1, 2007, my aunt, Nora Eileen Hunter, passed away at the age of 95 in Laguna Hills, California. Along with my mother Iris, she is responsible for writing the diary transcribed in this blog.
This photo is the only one I have of her at a very young age and shows her with her father taken in Hong Kong about age 5. It would have been taken almost exactly 100 years ago.
Coincidentally, I was going through old photos and was posting a photo of her mother ( my grandmother ) on another genealogy website when I realized that the scan of that other photo was done just after my aunt passed away. That jogged my memory and made me notice today was the 10th anniversary of Nora's death.
I've had coincidences involving much of my research. I can't count the number of times I've come across new information, right on the birth date of the person I'm looking into, or on some other date that is pertinent to them. I've come to view it as my own method of connect-ability.
So today, I'll remember my aunt Nora even more than on other days. Following along and posting the entries from this diary has given me an incredible connection to Nora and to my mother and grandfather as well. I'm very grateful to them for taking the time to write their thoughts, and most of all, to Nora for preserving the book all those years, enabling it to be shared today.
